After a long pause, a caller came on the line to ask for someone here. Given the pause, I asked who was calling. The caller gave some "Research" name and said "would you please just direct me to his line?". I put them on hold, looked up the number, then asked what the call was in regard to. They said "information about IT". I told them they were asking for the wrong person. The asked if said person was the IT manager, and I told them we don't give out name and title information. I get a feeling this isn't the last call we'll get from them.
We got 17 calls in a row from this number, asking for a different name each time. When we told them we had nobody here by that name, they asked for the finance department or the h.r. department. They were very rude and pushy and would not tell me why they were calling.
I asked them nicely, not to call back and they did...11 more times. They just wouldn't give up.
