I too was just contacted by someone from Rose International in regards to a copywriting position at Bank of America.  It was from a Paul Singh.  Immediately, he told me that the position required my SSN, and that I could give it to him over the phone, or reply with it in an e-mail.  He also had a heavy Indian accent (I say Indian because Rose's only foreign office is in New Delhi).  I thought this was strange because SSNs  are generally not given until further down the interviewing process and directly to the company that is hiring you.  If this is indeed legit, Rose International must understand that it is not appropriate to immediately ask for someone's SSN and that ANYONE would be suspicious.

I can't say I'm shocked by everything I've read because Thank God for all of you writing about your experiences.  I just got off the phone with someone from Rose Int'l. with a heavy accent and an offer for a job with Bank of America.  I don't know what to believe but everything sounds fishy now, especially asking for a SSN.  There could very well be Identity Theft going on with this company and that is illegal.  I'm a Criminal Justice graduate and I have a contact who's a computer crimes investigator so I will send him a lead on this company's activities.  Because if there is illegal activities going on there needs to be punishment.

Everyone that is claiming this company is a scam is doing it because you never received a call back. I'm reading post from 2009 but no one has yet to say their identity was stolen, ect. I think if the company were scaming people it would not take over a year for it to go public. I was offered a pt job @ BOA. I've already given them my ss# & DOB. I received ppw today to fill out. I'm moving forward.

I just got the call from this 636-812-4000 number from some one named "Laxman Prasad 6579", he said the job was with Bank of America in Providence for $15/hr.  He immediately asked for my social within 3 mins of talking when I refused he told me to hold and speak to his senior supervisor... after some muffling of the phone another gentleman came on the phone and started convincing me to hand over my social.  He said he would email me a disclaimer from Bank of America but has yet to do so.

I only decided to research this company because I felt uncomfortable about the whole social security thing and it makes me wonder even more why people are on this site defending them? Who researches a staffing agency AFTER they were placed in the job MONTHS later? It just doesn't make sense to me and I feel even more that this company is a scam.  I hope this info helps someone.

I can see why everyone can be skeptical when they don't have all the information. It's easy enough to A) search for the actual company via the BBB in St. Louis and see that although they don't have an endorsement yet by the BBB they have an 'A' rating on a scale from A to F; B) when I was called for an interview, YES, I was initially contacted by someone with a foreign accent, but afterward was contacted by an HR staffer from somewhere in the U.S.; and C) when the phone interview was scheduled, the caller id from the interviewer WAS  from the company I was supposed to interview with, a feat that is near impossible to fake.
I have not been asked for my SS # for this position so I'm assuming it wasn't needed at this time.
Rose International IS a legitimate placement agency. But feel free to do your own due diligence and assuage your fears about it.
No one is in a position to convince you if you're not willing to believe in the 1st place.
