Just got a call from this number. I actually work in IT so I knew right away it was bs, so I toyed with the guy for a while, then called him out.
him: "so yes, we are seeing malware and viruses on your computer"
me: "oh really? What's the IP of the computer?"
him: "it is a temporary IP of 192.168.1.125"
me: "yeah, no.. that's a local IP address lmao. Obvious scam."
him: "it's not a scam or I would be asking for credit card information, we just need you to visit a website so we can remove the malware"
me: "you mean hijack my PC and then demand a ransom to unlock it. Get a real job."
I told the foreign caller to remove my number from their call list - she said she could not as my number was programmed on auto-dial. That tells me a lot..... Microsoft would not have me on auto dial until I answered.
Jammed up my home phone three times today, July 25th. Tried to call back to see if it was legitimate and the message came back that it was an invalid number. On the third ring I answered and asked who was calling and I never got an answer. They hung up on me.
