My stepmother has been getting calls from various phone numbers such as 888-779-3403, 960-903-8389, 888-238-9672, 518-618-3877, 206-496-0490, 800-234-1234, 202-470-3185, 609-779-9702, 203-756-9834, 924-339-6908, 638-289-2759, 845-406-9533, 253-236-2034, 401-648-7436, 897-217-7585, 977-397-6780, 275-952-1322, 917-398-5594, 253-382-9960, 936-162-1654, 407-218-5892, 866-985-2273, 317-559-5560, 866-598-1100, JUST TO LIST A FEW! She gave me the phone to talk to one of the men and he was Indian or Pakistani or who knows where he was from... Anyway, my stepmother wanted to give this man her checking account information which she had just opened 2 days prior and there was no money in there to take and I knew this. Her money was in her savings account. I told him to hold on because we had to get her drivers license and he said "ok" and I set the phone down and muted it. I ate dinner and then about 20 min later, I picked the phone back up and he was still there. Then I told him she wasn't interested. Now today, Aug 23rd, 2012 she gets a few calls about loans and schooling and then finally, she comes in my room with the phone and really thought she had the big one and thought it was legit because they said it was a "Government Grant" for $9,200 and she proceeded to give them her savings account number and routing number and I let her go ahead and do so because I had already went online and transferred her money over to my account at a completely different bank. I wanted her to learn a lesson. The name "PETER CLARK" "FRANCIS BROWN" was mentioned and some other lady with the last name "NANCY SMITH" was also involved. The Smith lady said that my stepmother needed to call Peter Clark back and give him a confirmation number and that her $9200 would be in her account within 30 min. I told her not to call nobody back and "lets go to the bank, right now" She asked why and I told her that they would explain everything to her when we got down there. We walk into the bank and we went to the teller and I explained what had been going on for the past 2 days with all these calls about loans and then the Government Loan that had just came in within the last 20 minutes. The teller told my stepmother that she should not have given out any account information to anyone because when her Social Security check comes in on the 3rd, someone was going to wipe her clean. So, since both accounts had been given out, we had her new checking account number changed to a newer one and also had her savings account changed to a new one and not one dime of her money was taken, except for the money I transferred out of her savings to stop Nancy Smith from taking. Now she has to contact the Social Security office and let them know that she now has a new account for them to direct deposit into. She has now learned to tell all these loan Indians, Pakistani's, whatever they are, to remove her number from their list. I even answered 2 calls within 10 minutes of leaving the bank and it was those people wanting to know why the information was wrong lol. I said words to them that they probably never heard before and I even asked them before I said anything, if they could properly speak and understand English but now they don't like me because they hung up on me and didn't even say goodbye. I think that is kinda rude of them and since I have been typing this, I have already answered two more calls. No goodbye's from them either.
Moral of this story is, NOBODY IS GOING TO CALL YOU AND OFFER YOU A LOAN OR GOVERNMENT GRANT AND THEN ASK FOR BANK INFO. DON'T BE STUPID. THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IS NOT GOING TO APPEAR INTO YOUR ACCOUNT WITHIN 30 MIN, ONE DAY, 3 DAYS BUT THOUSANDS CAN BE TAKEN AND YOU KNOW WHY? BECAUSE YOU GAVE THEM THE RIGHT TO TAKE IT WHEN YOU RELEASED YOUR BANK ACCOUNT INFO. IT IS A SCAM, THIS IS WHAT THEY DO ALL DAY LONG AND THEY MAKE VERY VERY GOOD MONEY DOING IT. If you are female, tell them your name is Betty Crocker and you have a cake to bake. If you are a male, tell them your name is Bill Gates and you have to go program a computer. I think I gave all of you a thorough list of numbers that may call you or has already called you. DON'T GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION AND IF YOU DO, JUST WASTE THEIR TIME AND GIVE THEM FAKE INFO AND HAVE FUN WITH THEM ON THE PHONE. GIVE THEM ONE OF THE NUMBERS ABOVE AND SAY IT'S YOUR NUMBER. USE ONE OF THE NUMBERS ABOVE AS YOUR SSN# OR BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER. Or, simply hang up on them and don't say goodbye because they haven't said goodbye to me yet. Good luck to all of you! i got a call for a grant they didnt ask for any bank statments or anything she just said i need to go to western union and give $100 and in 30 mins my money will be on my card all she asked for was if i worked i said no she said do i have income i said no she said okay and asked for my card number to put the money on there she said that id it wasnt on there that i would get my $100 back ... im unsure of wat to do bec i did apply fora grant the number is 2024700793
This is a scam DO NOT go to Western Union and gie the scammer's any money there is NO GRANT. DO NOT give them your bank account information they will take you money.T ell them you know t's a scam and they will hang up. Please do not pay these people. Don't let them steal your money!!!!
