Scam. Ken Walston from Windows something or other, calling to tell me about malware on my computer. Was trying to get access to my computer. Speaker spoke with a heavy accent from a room with many callers.
Scam. Ken Walston from Windows something or other, calling to tell me about malware on my computer. Was trying to get access to my computer. Speaker spoke with a heavy accent from a room with many callers.
This person called me on 3/20/2017, at 9:30pm ET. He said his name was Martin Williams, & that he was calling from Microsoft "to help me" because "a hacker has been hacking into my computer for weeks now & is using my computer & my information to conduct criminal activity".
I asked what the company's phone # is, so I could verify that this was all real first, & he told me:
1-800-233-2811 (Microsoft Main #)
&
1-646-233-2811 (His Direct #)
So....I told him..."hmmm that is interesting, because while I DO own a laptop, I have not turned it on in at least a year now, & there is no way it is turning itself on while it is unplugged, & sitting on the floor of my bedroom closet, because it also has a 100% dead battery!"
So...he then told me "to go get my laptop now & try to turn it on & he would help me fix it & put a stop to this criminal activity being done in my name"
