There have been several telephone scams in which the caller tries to elicit a "yes" answer from the called person. Those scams have been around for at least four years.
The good part is ... Snopes states there are NO verified reports of people actually getting charged because of their "yes" answer.

Interesting observation: There are quite a few reports of the "Can You Hear Me" scam here ... and those reports tell readers not to say "yes". However there are at least as many "phony IRS" scams reported here ... but many of those reports ask "is this real?".
Why the difference?
Maybe, just maybe the "Can You Hear Me" scam was described on several TV newscasts, distorted, then passed on in casual conversation. The "phony IRS" scams are less "advertised". If this is true, perhaps YOU need to learn more about telephone scams. Visit
