I got a call from Washington DC saying I am to receive a $9,000 grant. In order to receive the grant, I had to purchase $200 in iPhone cards. Curious, I bought the iPhone cards and had to scratch the activation codes and read them to the caller. Successfully providing valid codes, she gave me a number to their tax office. They said in order to receive the grant, I have to pay federal taxes upfront in the amount of $685. I told her I could not pay this amount right now, but will call her back when I do. I'm curious as to where this goes. Also, I went to redeem one of my iTunes cards on the Apple Store, and it said gift card already redeemed??
After receiving a call from 202-754-3645 saying I was to be getting a $8000 free federal grant and was given an ID# and the 646-504-8783 to call to verify the grant, The person at this # insisted that they needed my debit card info for the grant. Do not give then any info. I hung up and contacted the Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force at StopFraud.gov 1877-382-4357 and reported these to numbers. I was to call them back if they tried to contacted me again. If this happens to you, contact StopFraud,gov !!!
The foreigner that called me told me I had won some grant money. He gave me a conf # and told me to call 646 504 8783. So I called and they went through the whole $8000grant money spiel. Then she told me in order to receice my cash I would have to purchase a $250 I tunes card! When I laughed, she hung up! So I called back and she was very short with me. "Do you have the $250?" She demanded. I told her I did and would go ger a itunes card .when I called back,they didnt answer the phone! Totally a skam! I cant believe people are that stupid! It sounded like a large phone room of skammers! I wonder how rhey get paid! Think I will ask! But they wont answer my call!
Called me about an $8000 federal grant. Very convincing, gave me a Washington street address and all. Was given a code number and told to call account manager to activate with that code. He said they would transfer the grant electronically with my bank account number and routing number. It sux that this is a scam because I've been out of work for 9 months and really could've used that money. He claimed his name was Larry Thompson although he had a very eastern european sounding accent.
