Keep getting phone calls from this person saying his name is Kevin Williams and I need to get back to him cause there are three charges against me and I need to call him back and I will be arrested tonight same guy has a few different numbers and names even emails me arrest warrants.
This person named Nick Johnson has bugged me now for couple months...with the same kind of threats. I played into it because of fear and already sent couple payments, but once I questioned him today, he got defensive, arguing, threatening court tomorrow and everything else. I just asked him to verify who they, the supposed law offices, were representing. I wanted to know who I was actually paying and they refused to tell me anything except Advance America, parent company of subsidiary company. I did receive one receipt showing it from Advance America. So I called Advance America corporate office, and they have no record of my name. They said it was a scam. Then I called this Nick Johnson back and he refused to talk to me. Then he mentioned USA Cash Advance. Then he said he couldn't give me the requested info until I had it all paid off. Now he refuses to talk with or work with me. But if this was really a legit law office, they would work with you and give you that info. He hung up on me, after threatening to see me in court tomorrow and for me to get lawyer. I'm glad to see other people have had the same problem, only because it lets me know or confirms this is not right.
This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
Add Jacob Morris to that list. I also fed into the fear and made a couple of payments. When I questioned them and didn't send the money they routed calls thru the local police and sheriff's departments and then one of my payments "disappeared" and they wanted another payment. That's when I called the cops to check them out and am filing a complaint with the FTC. They claim to be associated with Bryan Cave Law Firm.
