Received automated message and I called back and they said I owe xyz. I advised i would visit my local IRS office in the morning and hung up. They tried to sound official by providing the ID and case number. I told them to feel free to mail me a letter if it's that serious.
Answered the call it was an automated message that was very choppy stating that they were the IRS if they were filing a lawsuit against me. Knowing that it was garbage I went ahead and called back anyway. A gentleman with a very thick accent answer the phone and stated something along the lines of "thank you for calling the crime investigations and their of the IRS how may I help you?" I said very nicely, "hi I'd like to be removed from your call list" and he hung up. I called back and it rang about 6 times and someone picked up and immediately hung up. What a joke.
