Received automated message and I called back and they said I owe xyz. I advised i would visit my local IRS office in the morning and hung up. They tried to sound official by providing the ID and case number. I told them to feel free to mail me a letter if it's that serious.

They called me today From the number 646-663-7163 and told me that I was being sued for money that I owed them but I get my taxes every year and if i owed money my tax person would have told me... I will find out who they are and i will have them arrested for this scam....
You'd have a hard time doing that. Callers are most likely Indian or Pakistani hard core scammer/extortionists. They ignore all US laws. US can't do anything and the local governments do little. Invest in a call blocker and DO NOT pick up onc all numbers you do not recognize.
646-663-6039, and 206-414-251. Received call almost two hours apart. Being sued by IRS. The second time on the 206, I called and I yd him I already contacted IRS and it's a scam. He said no it's the IRS, I then lied to him. I'm the police. He hung up. If you paid them any money then it's a crime. Call 1800 366 4484 to report it. Not sure it will do any good. The scammers are out of the country. Better yet just don't give them anything and call IRS directly. Problem solved.
