I got two calls from this guy. Thank God I told him the first time that his phone was cracking up. He asked if he could call back and I told him yes. In the mean time I did a google searcp the name that came up on caller Id. Thanks guys!!!! I told him it was a scam and I was going to hang up. I did. He called right back and I wouldn't answer. The guy sounds like the guy you described but the phone number is 347-468-8895 and it comes up WPI, Group Inc.
Yes, same line of bull here. Allegedly calling from Microsoft about errors in Windows. Gotta say, they're
persistant - called 3 times. Had a few choice words for them when I answered the last one. This time he said he was calling from Florida, last time NY. How do you get them to stop calling?
Got a call from these folks on 7/19. Normally we don't answer the phone when ID is "unknown", but it was early and the wife picked it up while i was in the shower. These folks almost had her convinced that they were from MicroSoft tech support and "there was something on our computer" they needed to fix. Obviously from the get go it was bogus, but I played along with the self-proclaimed "John" on the phone (obviously not an American born John given his middle easternish dialect). I told him I had five PC's and asked him which one was infected, he said he couldn't pinpoint it unless I went to each PC.
I just hope people aren't naive enough to open up the PCs for anyone.
Seems we are war on all types of fronts with these foreign butt heads. As the military motto goes.. kill'em all and let god sort them out.
Listen, shutting your pc down and rebooting won't help you. If you gave someone access to your pc, then you need to change a few thiings such as your IP address, your computers name after you swept your computer with your own antivirus program(Norton 360 is great). Why? If you gave them access and they planted spyware on it, then they can access it anytime....
I have had 3 or 4 phone calls today from this number 646-915-0427 from "Mark" and then his supervisor "Austin". When i asked for the phone number the first several times they said it with the break in the wrong place 646-9150-427. Same story as above he said he was calling from a computer systems company for Windows and my computer was infected. He has an Indian accent and was asking me to go to the computer and turn it on. I asked which computer, he couldn't tell me, I asked how they knew something was wrong and they said my computer sent them alerts and I asked when. They said over the last few days and I said that was interesting since my computer hadn't been on over the last few weeks! More back-peddling and non-English words. I told the "Austin" not to call again or I would report the call. And of course a few minutes later "Mark" called again! Wish I had read the whistle suggestion before! Beware of these calls! I was immediately curious about how they got my information because they called on the landline and I never give that number out to anyone or ant product registration of any sorts!
I've received a couple of calls from this company's name listed on my caller ID. I don't answer calls from anyone unless I know who they are. I figure if it is important for me to take the call, they'll leave a message. This caller hasn't left one. The number they called from is 646-367-9689, different from the number on this page. The 646-367-9689 doesn't have an entry yet so I'll start one.
