Yes, just got a call from this number. This is the fourth in the past week to four different numbers from three different originating numbers. It is definitely a phishing scam, but they keep jumping numbers. Suspect that they are either hacking VoIP lines, or spoofing the "Call From" numbers.
When I called the number back, there was a message about any calls from this number being part of a Palo Alto scam to obtain credit card information. The recording give a number and a detective's name, who they say you should contact to help the Palo Alto PD make a case against the scammers. I just ignored the whole shebang.
they called and left a voice mail message asking if I had my credit card in my possession, like they were the security department of my credit card company. Called my credit card company, and they said there was no new activity on my card, and it was probably a scam. I am so tired of having to do a lot of work to protect myself from scammers, I would give up some of the benfits to get rid of the scammers.
I see that just seven minutes after the last person posted I got a call about my credit card as well. I had let it go to voice mail since I didn't recognize the number. After I listened to the messagew I figured it was a scam, but it's nice to get confirmation. :)
Most definately a scam. But if you call it back, it gives you the Palo Alto police and asks you to ask for detective Brian Phillips as they're investigating this number.
