Been getting these calls for awhile now. I normally hang up, but this time i pressed "1". The automated call says that "Our records show that you have not updated your Google Business account... Press one to verify, or press two to be removed from this list." I am still not sure if legit or not. My feeling is that it is not, and that the SCAMMERS just want to verify that they have a live number so they can call back and harrass (pressing 1 or 2 would accomplish that either way).
This number belongs to a company called XOKA INC. Look them up, they have a horrible reputation for scamming unsuspecting small business owners as well as not paying their employees. They have called me many times. They robocall people with a recording saying that I have not "updated my listing" with them and to press 1 to speak to a representative. Google never places calls like this, so that's how you can tell its a scam. First time they called I gave the saleswoman a bit of a hard time because I knew it was a scam. I would answer her questions with a question and pretend I couldn't hear well. She got frustrated and threatened to have my listing removed, even though I don't even have a website. Only reason I haven't blocked them is because they provide me with free entertainment. I like to mess with them. I don't think they're really allowed to hang up on you so I can keep them on the line and act like a complete [***] and they just have to sit there and take it
The company that owns this number is called XOKA INC, if you'd like to report them to the FCC. They call me pretty often and I managed to get one of their sales people to tell me who he worked for
