Same thing here.. they had my name but no information. . I owe nothing .. love the threats. Bottom feeders.. last time they claimed to be the IRS. Different number same b.s.
The called and asked for my ex-husband who is now deceased. I called and told them that and the person on the other line wouldn't listen to me at all. Said that they were sending someone to ... gave me the address and he didn't live there. Tried to tell them that too! Idiots!!!!
Do not give personal information (no matter how mundane) to total strangers who call you. By getting a little bit here a little bit there you'd be surprised how much of a profile of you someone can build. Also, by answering unknown calls you just verified yours is a good number so you can expect more calls. Always protect yourself because no one else will.
They have harassed me with 2-4 calls daily not including the daily calls that my daughter gets on her cell phone (sometimes within minutes of one another) and when I called back they answered stating heir name and "CCR". When I asked for the company information they immediately hung up on me.
I called back (Several times to get part the "We're too busy to answer the calls" recording) and the first person askes how he can help. I explain what had transpired and wanted to know the name of the company. he also says CCR and rattles off some other unintelligible information and then without ceremony, transfers me to another call center rep. This one verifies my name (I'm assuming by phone number as I haven't given an ounce of information as of yet) and then proceeds to verbally note that they had spoken to my daughter recently. (because she's sick of the harassment as well) THEN she tells me that she's NOT my case worker and has to push me off onto ANOTHER person.
By this time I have to keep casting the line to reel them in before they hang up on me again. (Obviously they don't like having to be on the receiving end of the questions) She finally gets around to telling me that my harassment complaint has been recorded but won't put a notation in that I'd like to be contacted regarding the complaint that she simply can't be bothered with.
After some specific prompting I finally get the name of the company that supposedly has a case against me. it's a credit card bank that I am unaware of for a credit card that I did not have at the date she quotes from her computer screen. (I simply did NOT have a credit card on or anywhere near the date that she mentioned.)
NOW after further prompting she tells me that she can not give me any more information regarding the case unless I agree to use that company as an intermediary. I asked her directly "How can I make a judgement to use your services or have papers served to me regarding the case..let alone on whether I agree to the charges in the case, without knowledge OF the case??" to which she could only reiterate the fact that she can not do that. I told her I'd accept written information but she just apologized that her company does not give documentation like that.
My suggestion is this... if you feel there may actually be some action against you, look it up. Contact the company they say is at least the parent company the supposed case is written from. At the very least they should be able to confirm (in legal documentation) that there is a case against you whether it be right or wrong. At that point decide if you WANT an intermediary.. personally I wouldn't use this CCR company even if there WAS a reason for it and they could save me money.. I don't want to put money in the pockets of a company that harasses potential customers and their family.
