Called my mother saying I put her name down as a work reference. I typically do since I am self employed. My mom became suspicious when they wanted random info verified. I called the number and they wouldn't tell me what the company was until I verified all the info. Claimed they were ACT.
Called my parents house looking for me, then asked for my boyfriend who has never lived there. Then called my cell phone asking for my boyfriend. Called herself Samantha and asked if we were married. Gave me her number to have my boyfiend call her back, I asked what it was about and she said she couldn't tell me because we are not married. I'm pretty sure it is a bill collector. My mother used to be a collector and she thinks so as well.
Someone called me from this number and claimed that my son had applied for a job with them and wanted to know if I'd be a reference. Sounded scammy to me and clearly it was. Also, claimed to be from a company called ACT but gave no details about what the company was about.
Roberta called me from this number asking to verify my sister's details and told me they were from a company call Account Care Technology. She wouldn't explain anything more to me. When I asked how she got my number she was vague and then got frustrated that I had more questions then answers for her when she called me asking about my sister's info. Roberta then put me on with her "manager" who within 15 seconds hung up on me because obviously I "wasn't willing to be a verifier of my sister's information". Definitely sketchy and I think bill collector for sure.
