I get so many of these calls that I don't answer if I don't recognize the number. I just Google it and it usually leads me here. A bit of advice: if you do answer it, don't argue with these people, just hang up immediately. Pressing "1" or calling back just lets them know they've found an active number and they'll not only keep calling, but sell the numbers to other scam artists.
Yes, they will promptly help you MAX OUT your credit cards and EMPTY your bank account if you give them any information. If you don't recognize the number, don't answer!
A reminder about the Do Not Call Registry - it only works with law-abiding organizations. These are criminals we're talking about. Expecting them to abide by the DNC is like expecting a fleeing bank robber to stop for a red light. Scammers have no use for the DNC Registry, and if you press "1" expecting to be put on THEIR (non-existent) Do Not Call list, you've just told them that they've reached a live human being, and they'll be back to pester you. Your best strategy is to ignore and block!
Well, since this is a relatively new area code, looks like the scammers have a cornucopia of numbers to utilize.
Somebody has to fill the "I'm Rachel from card services" gap. Just ignore these scumbags. Cell phones are not off limits to scammers. You may think you only share with family and friends, but if you do any business with medical professionals, amazon, local busnesses, etc., your number is easy meat for data miners.
Neve answer numbers you don't know. Legitimate callers will leave a message. Think about getting a call blocking service.
Got a call from this number on my office phone this morning before I had come in for the day. Name on caller ID was "Unknown" and they didn't leave a message.
