*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time,date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

The DNC isn't a call blocker and can not protect you from the illegal callers, extortion scammers, foreign country's and frauds. Criminals do not obey laws simply said. They use spoofed numbers which make it hard to track them down.. it takes time to do this and many subpoenas for call records.. And the DNC doesn't apply to Debt collectors which fall under the FDCPA/TCPA laws, nor does it apply to some surveys, Charity or Political calls though they can still get into trouble as they are supposed to keep a internal DNC list.
