An unwanted call from this Virgina VOIP number arrived today. When the answering machine picked up, the caller hung up. Robocallers (unlawful telemarketers) hate reaching answering devices while they are trolling the phones, desperately seeking gullible schmucks to victimize.
Many posters report the caller is Medicare Seniors, possibly one of many Medicare crooks who collectively steal $60 billion per year from taxpayers by scamming the system. Telecriminals like this are the reason you should LET YOUR ANSWERING MACHINE TAKE THEIR PATHETIC CALLS.
Called twice today. Man said he was calling from Medicare. I told him "NO." the first time. The second time, I told him not to call this number ever again (like it will make a difference). I asked him if he had heard what I said. He said, "Sorry. Have a nice day." How can I have a nice day with jerks like him wasting my time answering the phone. Next time, I'm putting the phone on speaker and I'll turn on the radio full blast. Let him waste his time waiting for someone to answer...
Answered the call with "Hello" and heard what I can only describe as a partial conversation in a noisy area like a call room. Stupid telemarketers confirmed my number, darn it....and I blocked theirs.
