Received 2 harrassing phone calls from someone who identified himself as David Gray. Had what sounded like an Indian
Accent and said that this was the last attempt to reach us, otherwise we would be contacted by a Federal Magistrate?
Some IRS Scam. My husband will change our greeting on our answering service to indicate only our phone #, no personal ID of any kind. My question - when are these people going to be identified and prosecuted to the full extent of the law?
You heard the guy's accent. That probably means he's overseas, which makes it nearly impossible to catch him. If you're able to, make sure unknown callers get only a ringing phone. No answer of any kind means no threats and the callers can do nothing with empty numbers. They eventually get sick of wasting time with that, but you have to be patient and not answer at all.
My elderly mother and step father got a call from 703.828.0314. After a couple of close calls where they gave out info in the past and I had to damage control, my parents now check with me first before they called back.
They said a man claiming to be from the Treasury, who was speaking very forcefully in a threatening manner, told them they needed to call back immediately to avoid prosecution or steps towards prosecution.
If anyone gets any more info on these scumbags I would love to take a trip to where they are and help them form a new and intimate relationship with pain.
