Also received message from 703-662-8086 about two hours earlier.
Definitely IRS scam - got the same mechanical messages that I'm in big trouble for not filing taxes. transcript of voicemail (xfinity):
"You're subjected to receive this message. Even if your number is out of state for the national do not call list. Our attempts to notify you why certified mail. Have it turned on the word resulting into a lawsuit to be prosecuted in your name on a council fraudulent I no tax filing. You know your tax outstanding contact our order department on 703-828-0605. I repeat it's 703-828-0605 before any legal actions are taken to forcefully recover the amount unpaid. Thank you."
Leaves a voicemail asking for money. Saying I'm in a lawsuit due to verified mail bring returned to the IRS. When I call the number back. So done ran info on my phone number and asked if I was at ______ address. Hadn't lived there in years... I asked the guy in the phone for information about what it's regarding because it sounds like a scam. Man on the phone then gives me attitude and hangs up.
These scammers will ignore laws and court orders. Your best bet is to block them. For a land-line phone you can buy a machine that will block numbers. Its available at Best Buy and on Amazon. For a smart phone you can download a call-blocking ap. For a cell phone (a not-smart one) your provider may be able to block calls for you. Or you can put the pest in your contacts list and assign it the ring tone "no ring". That will send the calls to voicemail without ringing. You'll have to clean-out your voicemail occasionally.
These guys called my house claiming to be the Tax and Audit Department of the I.R.S.
Very obviously a scam by their foriegn accents and claims of taxes owed. I would suggest if you get a call
from these guys to repeatedly call them back for an hour or so (more if you have the time!) … they'll answer sometimes … hang up and call right back! …. sometimes they'll let it go to answer machine …. fill up their machine with mindless blather! ….. from the things they started calling me when they did answer , I don't think they liked it. The last time they answered before giving up I asked the guy, "It's no fun getting calls from an a**hole is it?" He laughed and hung up and they stopped answering after that …. they just kept letting it go to the machine.
I'm gonna call 'em some more tomorrow!

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
