This is a Police Department notifying the public of a missing child in a specific geographic area of the city. The caller [taped message] provided detailed information about the missing child, what she was wearing, how tall she is, how much she weighs, and what she was carrying when she went missing. I did not answer the call since I did not recognize the number. The call went in to voicemail where I listened and found out it's a legitimate call. If I were the mother of this child, I'd appreciate the fact that there is a concerted effort to notify as many people as possible about the missing child.
They called me at 10:30 p.m.. It was an automated call from CMPD saying they had an important message for me and to press any number to get the message. With all the phone scams out there, I just hung up. There is no reason the police should be calling me, and with an automated call no less! It was very disconcerting though.
The phone rang at 10:59 pm and we didn't answer it (were all asleep). The msg was a loud siren-like noise which continued through the entire msg sequence. It's frightening to get a call from "Char Meck Emergency" late at night like that! I hope it can be stopped SOON!
called the number back and they said to put in your company id. then it goes to a fax type noise. this should be stopped. they are scaring people to death. i am reporting to cmpd. perhaps they can do something.
