I believe this could well be a credit card phishing scam. I received a call from this number yesterday, also prefaced by an announcement that calls are recorded (perhaps to make it seem legitimate), and then the person proceeded to tell me that my newspaper subscription had expired (and he could easily be guessing that I had one), that my autopay wasn't working, and that he could renew my subscription for half the price I was paying (sounds too good to be true) and all I had to do was give him my credit card information.
Follow this rule always: do not give your credit card to people who call you. That's what I told him, and hung up.
Scam message. One call a day with no message, so I decided to answer. It was a lady asking about my local paper. She got very pissed when I asked her if she could remove her panties while she talked to me. Told her I would pound one off while she talked. Got her to hang up. Victory is mine.
