I've been a CoreStates/First Union/Wachovia/Wells Farg customer for over 25 years. I used to get calls from this number whenever I was driving very long distances on vacation or making large purchases in rapid succession around Christmastime. They have unlocked my card for me in the past once I confirmed purchases.
For the people reporting they don't have a card with them, I strongly suggest that you check for identity theft. Someone may have opened a card in your name. Just because you didn't open a card doesn't mean it's impossible there's a card out there based on your name and identity. Take this seriously.
I only chose "Event Reminder" below because the "Event" was suspicious activity on my card.
Some one called & left a message that some fradulent activity was happening on my credit card. As I did not have any wellsfargo credit card, I was sure it was a fraud.
Clearly they had the number wrong because this was no fraud. You'll recieve a call from Wells Fargo Credit Card services when they see something out of the usual.
I had to dial *60, and block this phone number. BUT before I called Wells Fargo and the lady didn't know what to do and IN THE SAME TIME they were calling me! ANNOYING!
A man called me saying my ATM had been hacked and lo and behold - it was - BY HIM in No. Carolina. This was the number. Don't give him any info. Said he was Wells Fargo
I went to this site because I was receiving an phone number that I did not recognize which was 704-590-6161. So they did leave a message and it was from Wells Fargo just like you said. The only thing was I did contact Wells Fargo earlier in the day regarding some investments and on the voicemail they were actually answering my questions. So the phone number is in fact from Wells Fargo and I can confirm that, I just don't know why they called you like they did. I hope this helps future people who read this reply.
