Answered it because it's a NC area code where I live and I was expecting a call on my cell phone. Heard the familiar robotic "bleep" of the switch from robo-dialer to a live caller. Clue 1 of bogus call. A guy's voice said, "Catherine?" which is not my name. Clue 2 of bogus call. I hit Mute on my phone. The guy repeated "Catherine?" a couple more times, then hung up.
Claimed to be from a veteran's charity. It was Sunday night after 8pm, which really made me suspicious. Tried to transfer me to "get my address" and I hung up. Wasn't sure if the voice was robotic or real.
Man called asking to speak to my wife and said he was raising money from veterans when asked about group sounded suspicious and odd 704 area code from Charlotte shouted spammer or thief.
Just received a phone call from a guy claiming to be from the Disabled Veterans Foundation. When I asked which one, he repeated Disabled Veterans Foundation. I said you mean the DAV? He said no, the Disabled Veterans Foundation...and then he started to go into a spill about wanting a donation for those that were over there and risked their lives and came back disabled. I told him that I was a 30 year veteran and would like some help for my disability and I'd like to apply,,,,where can I write or go on the web....he immediately hung up!!! Scammer, Scammer...you'll get yours one day.
