You are very correct sir, I have heard about this by calling the number back and pressing 1 to be removed is what THEY WANT YOU TO DO so they can get into your phone and info, contacts, ect.
Athens, Augusta, Dahlonega?!! Atlanta news frequently reports scammers that have been busted in that area. They found a HUGE ring a couple of yrs. ago. It seems it's about time they were released. Dittos to "S" but Mom was on the other line and pressed 1; I was on an extension. The message said just what "S" said it said. I got her to hang up but she wanted to waste their time. I think we have better to do than to waste their time because to waste their time is to also waste ours. Just a note, however: On other calls I've registered here (and yes, we've received them, groan) I've heard a number of clever ideas. One involved a blast from an air horn, while another put on an "old" act just to aggravate them, and still another gave the phone to her 3 yr. old. Given lots of free time I might do some of that. Anyway I got a GOOD laugh reading those posts! As for do-not-call lists, they're either from outside the country (and maybe usurping someone's number) so they couldn't care less or they've found a way around it via a random computer program. Sometimes I think putting your number on those lists makes them even more determined to call you. I believe they just might have hacked one of those lists, to tell you the truth. I wouldn't put anything past them.
Have gotten these calls before. If I don't know the number, I don't answer. They never leave a message, but I looked the number up here on Google, and it gave me this site. Glad I did. I have added them to my contact list as "Do Not Answer"...Makes it much easier.
Another number used for the "online business listing" scam.
If a legitimate company were making robo calls, wouldn't they at least provide the name of their company and a telephone number to call?
