You are very correct sir, I have heard about this by calling the number back and pressing 1 to be removed is what THEY WANT YOU TO DO so they can get into your phone and info, contacts, ect.
I've gotten 3 different calls from this number in the last week. They actually just started calling this last week.... no idea why. I let them roll over to voice mail, and no message is ever left. I don't know what their deal is. A prefix search shows the calls originate from north Georgia.
Do not call this number back. By calling back and pressing 1, you are confirming to them that you are indeed hosting an active phone line, and that you are potential consumer. Once you do this, then they will sell your number and personal data to a zillion other scammers. Always ignore these calls no matter what. If you have a smart phone use the phone settings to block the call, or send it to voice mail. 99% of smart phones have some kind of number blocking option.
They called and said it was urgent that our business claim its listing online (Google, Yahoo, blah blah blah) so "customers could find us." No name of their business, and the number is shown as coming from Calhoun, GA. I just hung up. Robo-calls are not legit.
Clever idea about adding to a fake contact name, Junk do not answer. Still I am reporting to the Gov. do not call list as everyone should. shut them down!!
