Telemarketing is not a crime. Telemarketing is telephone marketing of goods and services. Those who are calling you and everyone else are not Telemarketers....they are scammers, con-artist, and scofflaws who are stealing, and Not Legitimate, registered with the FTC, Telemarketing companies. The Do Not Call Registry is helpless against them. Since it does not have any mechanical capabilities or people to screen or block calls, it's helpless. It is just a list of names and numbers maintained by the FTC and purchased by legitimate telemarketing companies who are registered with the FTC.
The list of posts that you see on the page represents only the most recent posters. If the admin of 800 notes posted every invalid number that is reported there wouldn't be enough room on most PC Hard drives to hold the lot. It is not Telemarketing that is causing the problem. Actual Telemarketing violations are almost non-existant. There is already severe laws against these scammers and lawbreakers who are calling without going after further legislation. You can't hang em twice. It's not the lack of penalties and severity that is the problem. The problem is with the lawbreakers hidden, fake number spoofed, and many of them located out of this country in Uncooperative countries, the task of finding, collecting evidence to build a prosecutable case is an almost impossible task.
The solution lies more in holding those who facilitate this type of activity responsible. Holding their feet to the fire until they start coming up with technology to give the consumer a fighting chance. Start with AT&T and the many little telephone and common carrier utility companies who would gladly sell service and their souls to the devil for a buck. I certainly agree with your points though, and would like to have the authority to order in drone strikes when they do find them. What we need are more laws that favor the rights of 1 person over the rights of the other 350 million. That way we can save the American Justice system of laws, and the tax payer money, to hang the hard working American women and men who are out there working and just trying to get by and feed their families.
Called my personal cell phone Saturday, 8/17/2013, 11:54 AM. I rejected the call because I didn't recognize the number. No voice mail was left. My number has been in the National Do Not Call Registry for about eight years.
I know the caller ID number (708-178-0566) was spoofed because it is an invalid number: the central office code (or "NXX" or "prefix") cannot begin with "1". It is obvious that any telemarketer who would do that only has criminal intentions.
A request to 800notes staff: Please make a note at the top of the page when a number is invalid, such as this one. Hopefully, your web programmer can do that without too much difficulty.

I hope everyone reading this will actively support the strengthening of anti-telemarketing legislation and enforcement to stop telemarketers and to force the industry to come up with real solutions. It should be EASY!
