Brother in law, a police officer, said never to donate to these supposed police charities. Said they are scams and a large percentage of the money donated goes to the administrators. I always tell these callers to send me their finacials detailing how much actually goes to the charity, and that pretty much shuts them up.
This is the IL chief of police association, wanting donation. They called to my business, extremely rude, DEMANDED to talk to the owner, claiming it's a community matter. If they think that being so rude will get them somewhere, they are very wrong. Barking into the phone does not get you anywhere, and for sure they will not get a cent from me!!!
Like Lebowski, the caller demanded to speak to the owner of the company and refused to elaborate as to why. Since I am required to find out why, refusing to explain why they're calling will not get them to who they want. Since I've now discovered who they are and why they're calling, I will be advising the owner's exec admin why she got the call (and she only gets these calls when they refuse to answer my questions). I'll know for next time when they call to have them remove our number from their system.
What a prick. Demands to speak to the owner and when asked for what reason says it is a civic matter requiring his immediate attention. When asked if they were seeking a contribution I was told that it was none of my concern, just the owners. So since it was none of my concern I hung up on him...
