Brother in law, a police officer, said never to donate to these supposed police charities. Said they are scams and a large percentage of the money donated goes to the administrators. I always tell these callers to send me their finacials detailing how much actually goes to the charity, and that pretty much shuts them up.
These people just keep calling several times per day & hang up. This is my business line & they are tying it up. It is ridiculous. Who can I report them too.
They called my business this morning at an inconvenient time. The person was taken aback that I did not want to talk and was uncooperative when I asked to be removed from their calling list. I was told that it was not considered an unsolicited call because they were a non-profit and are not bound by any do not call lists and they were not required to remove my number (none of which is correct). I hung up and promptly called the main number for the Illinois Association for Chiefs of Police at 217.523.3765. The woman I spoke to was exceedingly polite and took my information to be removed from their list. These calls are made by a 3rd party. She assured me that my call (which are recorded) would be reviewed and disciplinary measures would be taken by the person who made the call. She assured me that anyone has the right to opt out of such calls.

Called demanding to talk to owner. Didnt want to answer where he calls. Asked for owners name. I refused to tell, since he didnt want to say where he is calling from. Got very rude with me, so i hung up.
