Called number back after no message was left. They have an "option 1" for you to press & they state you will not be bothered with further calls after 72 hrs.
Hi, yes I got a call from that number, they left a message as I was gone at the time. But I didn't listen to it until 4:40 this afternoon. However a young man came to the door and said he was from Energy Source and that Ameren was taking 15% off my bill. I told him I had already switched to someone else and he started asking a bunch of questions, did I have the paperwork from the other company, I couldn't find them. He said that they were not giving that much back and that they were giving 15% to people. I never gave a thought that it could be scam. I signed something 2 times. He asked for my Ameren acct#. And so I found an old bill and gave it to him.
So when I heard the message that was left for me, I felt my stomach drop, I don't know if this guy was legit or not, I know the phone numbers that was on my caller ID no one can even get through to them.
Thank you, I hope you get those people if it turns out to be a scam.
They called my husband & thank goodness he gave me the phone. He had a bad accident & has a brain injury. I was asked for my bill so I asked what company it was. She explained we qualified for a discount and they work with over 30 energy companies. I told her we lost power due to sandy so I can't look for bill right now. I wanted to buy some time since she didn't know about the rebate program we already applied for. After hanging up I googled energy choice assistance scam and found this & many more. They called from a slightly different number & when you call back it has a vague message and can't reach anyone. It is a terrible thing to do to people.
frm 973-333-4948 I got a call (message) from ECA, or Energy Choice Assistance. I waited on hold 2-3 minutes after being told I was eligible to receive a discount on our electric bill. It came up on caller ID as "Member Services". Representative # 471 answered, spoke quickly (male) and asked if we were on federal assistance and if we wanted to save on electric and gas. When I googled ECA and scam, I was directed to this site and told him I was not interested. He then asked WHY and sounded a bit irate, which confirms my feelings that it is a scam.
