They are not real. I just got called from them and I ignore them. Remember they can not arrest you. I have had fraud happen to me and have been in contact with a police officer from Illnois who is working on charges against a guy that has been in California as well as other places. Don't let them scare you.
Well, I placed a call to the actual law firm they claimed to be and left them a message. The law firm called me back saying that the number I provided was in northern California and that he was located in a different part of California but that his law firm has no record of any pending law suit against me. The person who called said his name was John, but had an Indian accent. I hung up on him, he called me back and left a message telling me to call the number I provided to 800notes. When I called, another gentleman named Chris took my call, he too had a thick Indian accent. He read me an affidavit that had the details of the alleged law suit against me. It sounded so real because he had the address of my police dept to which he said he was forwarding the affidavit and then told me to hire a lawyer. He never asked for money. But he may have wanted to scare me into offering to pay it
I received a call stating the individual was from a law firm and that I was being sued for something (could not understand through accent) and that my case papers would be at my local police station (gave correct police address) and that I needed to call him and if not, by ss# would be immediately "blacklisted' upon receiving the call.
John Douglas (heavy Indian accent; barely understandable) called claiming that there was a pending warrant in my name and the local police department was after me. They have sent "100's" of emails with no response. He could not give me details as he needed to transfer me to a senior attorney to discuss the case further. Needed to confirm address paersonal data.....WTF! BEWARE OF THIS SCAM!!!
Yes, I was told the exact thing. Callers name was John Douglas with William Hopkins Law firm. I called back and another man named Chris martin (who also had a thick Indian Accent) answered. And proceeded to read an affidavit of alleged charges against me. Stating that would be sent to my local police. (also had the exact address of my police dept).
