They are not real. I just got called from them and I ignore them. Remember they can not arrest you. I have had fraud happen to me and have been in contact with a police officer from Illnois who is working on charges against a guy that has been in California as well as other places. Don't let them scare you.
same thing here but called them on it telling them my husband works for the police dept that is supposed to pick me up and to not call me again as I know they are a scam. he wasnt happy :)
This caller called me three times in a row. The third time, I let call go to voicemail. Caller states that there is a criminal law case filed against me and that it will be downloaded to "the system" on Friday morning; that it will be filed with the local authorities; that I will need to go to court to clear my name. If I don't my social security will be blacklisted; and that I will need to pay a $3000-$4000 fine.
Needless to say, I will be going to the local authorities to report these people.
This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
