They are not real. I just got called from them and I ignore them. Remember they can not arrest you. I have had fraud happen to me and have been in contact with a police officer from Illnois who is working on charges against a guy that has been in California as well as other places. Don't let them scare you.
Got a message in my voicemail from a man with a thick accent from India claiming he was from something Hopkins Law Firm and I had a lawsuit filed against me. He told me I needed to call him back and confirmed my billing address and that papers was being sent to my local police department (Lewisville Texas). He gave the police department address and said also that I needed to call him with my attorney. At first was a little bit panicky then remember my better half just got a call from someone claiming they was an attorney and he scared her so bad she paid them 300 on a debt over 14 years old. After talking to a REAL attorney and finding out they are just debt collection we changed her card info. I looked this 714 # up and amazing this Ryan Smiths name pops up on several complaints filed. Glad I checked it out!!
I received a call stating the individual was from a law firm and that I was being sued for something (could not understand through accent) and that my case papers would be at my local police station (gave correct police address) and that I needed to call him and if not, by ss# would be immediately "blacklisted' upon receiving the call.
Daniel Lewis (heavy Indian accent) from William Hopkins law firm left a voicemail for me that I am facing criminal charges in LA County. The accent was so strong I could not make out what charges he was talking about, but he did threaten if I do not return the call to resolve this matter, that I am facing "legal consequences" that my SSN will be "blacklisted" and there will be "HUGE" penalties. Inquiring me, I called back and John answered. But it was the same voice as I have it recorded and listened several times to try to figure out what he was saying. When I asked for his last name because I couldn't understand him, he asked for my phone number to "look up my case." I told him I would like to know who I'm giving it to and he wouldn't answer so I hung up. So glad to see these postings of similarity!
