They also use the following spoofing number: 714-776-8775, 909-342-2124, 323-248-8695.....They want to check if you pick up and answer your phone or not....The real number from this company(CaliEnergyres) is (714)949-7107. DO NOT ANSWER YOUR PHONE and STAY AWAY!!!
A machine calls you and if you answer it tries to quickly connect you to a "sales person." If a "sales person" is not available, then you'll get "dead air" as it transfers you to no one. This is an example of bully capitalism. Welcome to the modern era. It's the old "if I get just one-half of one percent replies then I make money" technique. I just hope my blocked callers list has enough buffer memory.
11/24/14- Received call from a guy, seemingly young, from this # yesterday (Sunday). I told the guy that I thought it was rude that he was calling about Edison, lower my bill, Solar etc.... on a Sunday. I told him I wasn't interested and it appeared to me that he was almost snickering than he asked me if I knew why he was working on a Sunday. I said No I don't know why and he said because his wife is having a baby and he has to make extra money. I told him don't make his problem my problem, if he can't afford to have a kid keep it in his pants than I hung up.
11/25/14- A seemingly young woman called. I explained to her about the guy from yesterday and she said they don't work on Sunday's. She asked if the # was from where she was calling (818) # and I said No he called from a (714) #. When I told her how the conversation went she showed remarkable restraint and apologized. I asked her to please take me off whatever list she had me on, she didn't say she would, but she didn't say she wouldn't. We'll see.
I get calls to my cell phone from this number every day. They ask me if I'm "still paying over $100 a month on my Edison bill," and that if so, "I qualify for a special program." I have never had an Edison bill that high, and I told them that. Now every time they call, the qualifying amount gets smaller...this morning they asked me if I'm "still paying over $70 a month on my Edison bill." Sometimes there's no one on the other end when I answer.
Yes! I guess I am not the only one who is getting these calls from 714-776-8529. They never say anything or leave a message.
I wonder if the proper course of action for us netizens and citizens alike is to start egging them on for long periods of time on the phone, pretending to be interested so that we could soak up their time ad nauseam.
Even asking them to hold for a second so that you can grab your little baby so that s/he does not fall off the high-chair (or sumfin like that) would be the vigilante tactic against these sleazy telemarketers!
After all, time is money!
At a minimum, this retaliation attempt may actually work better to prevent them form calling us up in the future since asking them to not call does not seem to get us anywhere except here!
