knew it was a scam. Called to have some fun. Someone with a not American accent answered. They asked how much I owed and if I had that much in my checking account. Told them I owed $30K and then ripped them. It was fun. I might try again
my parents who are seniors got two calls from this number. Concerned they asked me to look into it. I called the number back and no answer. They were told the same story IRS is suing them and to call back ASAP.
This has been making the rounds. First and foremost, the IRS doesn't ever call and tell anyone they have filed a lawsuit. That is the first tip off. Just ignore the calls as annoying as they are. Mine was a voicemail with a messed up Caller ID number telling me I was being sued by the IRS. Instead of getting upset, I laughed. Unfortunately, they will make hit some marks who willingly give up personal information.
My elderly neighbor in Lakewood, CO received a call from an alleged IRS office saying that she was being sued for owing back taxes. It REALLY upset her. Later in the day, she received a second call telling her to disregard the first. I wish the perpetrator could be stopped immediately.
I got the same as everyone else. I called back and repeated into their voice mail exactly what they said to me. I'll do this for a while, when I get bored I'll kill them.
