Dave leaves me a voice mail he is coming to my work to serve me papers. I should make it a point to be there or he will report refusal to accept. What a joke. .... no business name etc. I call the number back and it goes to a different guys voice mail automatically....again no business name etc..
Just got this call, called back from a different phone number and went to voicemail to John Rinker, I'm going through a credit clean up and so i'm not answering any calls to not reset the debt clock. No Company Name was given by anyone, the Dave guy was mumbling and i think he said filing party... so if I'm being served, wouldn't they not call me to ensure I get paperwork? and where am I supposed to be present to receive this? work or home, if I can't get a hold of someone then where am i supposed to be at 1pm?
not sure who they are but same thing that everyone is saying.
they call me everyday either on my cell or at work..
i call back and get a machine.
this is total bs!!
I didn't answer because I don't ever answer if I don't know the number. The people I owed have written the debt off years ago, but these type parasites buy old accounts for pennies on the dollar and then rely on intimidation to collect the account. I have been out of work for a long time now also and am disabled on a very small and inadequate stipend that leaves me eating crumbs and doing without meds to keep the lights on. My family forced me into bankruptcy 20 years ago and left me with nothing, and then other people cheated me out of most of that. I got hurt at work and they fired me because of it and so, if some tough talking [***] wants to come after me, for what little I have left, he should bring friends !
If your debt was written off years ago, then it probably is way past the statute of limitations for collection. That doesn't stop scammers trying to get you to pay for it though. If you're on disability or retirement benefits, then there isn't anything a debt collector can get from you anyway - these benefits are protected from debt lawsuits. Report the number to the FTC, the FDCPA and your state's Attorney General. Again, it won't stop them from calling but might help if enough complaints are registered.
