Good luck getting off the list. The "Do Not Call" registry is ineffective anymore. Anyone's guess as to how we get on lists in the first place.

Nope, it doesn't happen that way at all! They don't need to buy the list which has to be purchased after qualifying from the DNC. All they have to do is plumb numbers into a dialing machine or computerized set up! Google your name and phone number also, anyplace like spokeo that shows up, make them remove it.
