Someone with an accent called from this number wanting to "update" my yellow pages listing. He read the info (name of company, address, phone number) to which I replied in the affirmative. He asked my name and job title. When I told him I was an employee, he said he didn't have that as a listed job title and would put me down as "controller since I was controlling the call." I told him I was not comfortable with that. He said "Administrator then." I told him I was not comfortable with that either. He said it was just for verification and not for anything else. I voiced my reluctance as I agreed. He then "transfered me" to his supervisor (he really just handed him the phone) and the supervisor verified everything the first guy said. When he asked if I was the Administrator, I told him no, that was what the first guy put me down as instead of controller when really I was just an employee. He changed me back to controller and told me it wouldn't be used for anything other than internal records. I asked him, again, what we were doing this call for. He said to update the yellow pages listing we had, and that it was not to sell anything, although they would send info on how to pay for a website if we wanted. I told him that I did not have any authority in my company to authorize anything and that as long as I was just verifying existing information, that was ok, but that I would not authorize anything over the phone. We then went through a series of recorded "verifications" where he asked me to state the name of the company and phone number. When it asked me to reply yes to the fact that I was authorized to make changes or incur charges on this phone line, I said no. I stated very clearly "I am NOT authorized to make changes and I am NOT authorized to incur charges," at which point he hung up on me. I believe this was a scam to have my phone line (in this case, my company's phone line) slammed. I called back and got the same as everyone who has posted here - nothing for about a minute to which I get an "all circuits are busy" signal.
Call my home phone and will not say a word. I did hear a baby crying in the back ground. These low life people are not worth the energy. But it is getting annoying as heck !!
I just got a call from this number. I have been getting calls the last two days from various numbers that I do not know. The only thing I would tell the guy was to remove me from his call list. He still wanted to keep on by saying it was not it was not sales, it was just a survey. I told him again to remove me. We will see what happens.
