They called and said that i was being investigted and that they were going to file charges against me for bank fraud and internet fraud but would not geive me any information
It would be a simple thing for them to do; they would just use caller ID spoof software. Have you tried running a reverse search on those phone numbers from your area code? If not, you can reverse search them here: http://www.whitepages.com/reverse-lookup
I have tried and its not listed.I also called the 718 number and ask for their address so i could send a letter but they wanted to know who i was I told them it didnt matter but they refused.
I've been receiving harassing calls at work from this number. The caller ID'd himself as Mesh, a United Processing Legal Technician from the US Investigative Bureau. The call came the call came about 0630, and he told me that I was due in court in San Diego CA at 0800. I work in No. Cal.! Told me that I could stop the litigation if I agreed to send money via moneygram in the amount of $980. He told me that he downloaded charges filed against my SSN from SD Marketing for check fraud in the amount of $350. I asked him what needs to happen to stop these calls. He told me he was going to put me on hold while he talked to his manager, and their legal representatives, and he told me that if I hung up while he had me on hold, only God could save me. I asked him for a phone number in case we got disconnected because my phone tended to disconnect during power outages, which were frequently happening recently. While I was on hold, I Googled the phone number I was given and pulled up info that this was a scam. Kevin came back on line about 5 minutes later, telling me he was the manager of that department of US Investigation Bureau, and that charges filed against my SSN were downloaded, and that the company in question was JR Marketing for check fraud. I asked him who his legal rep was -- told me that was information that I didn't need to know, and I had better shut up and listen to him and answer the list of questions he had to get through. I told him that in the first place he was violating the FDCPA by calling me at work. And in the second place, he was violating the law by impersonating a federal officer. And in the third place, there was no such thing as the US Investigative Bureau. And I told him that I would be reporting him to the FTC, the FBI, and the Secret Service, and the CA state attorney. Before I hung up on him, I told him that he and Mesh should really keep their info straight (SD Marketing from Mesh, and JR Marketing from Kevin). I just had to say that! Then I hung up.
Good for you for saying that.I hope these guys get caught. It bothers me that they are probley are scaring people and they end up sending money.Even if they do stop calling me iam going to do what I can to make them pay.
