An interesting note is that the U.S. collection agency, with whom I SETTLED in 2005 by paying some ridiculous amount, never sent me a letter showing this. I had put a stop payment against Dishnet and it was the same amount as my payday loan and it crossed and voila the payday company wanted nothing to do with me. That I can understand and I settled w/collection agency. Cost me about $800 to borrow $200. Interestingly enough when I call original collection agency, person answering phone says "account is closed" but her manager handles the account. So I leave messages but no one returns call. These crooks will SELL these debts I think, and even though they act as if you are settling them (Western Union, etc.) they don't close it. Mind you I settled for like $380 on a $200 loan. I pay off my debts.
So THEY ARE CROOKS. It makes me cringe the whole thing.
does everyone only get calls from this number on land lines? these people have my cell number but it seems they can't call that number they continue to harrass me at work. i messed up and 2 years ago i paid by moneygram to ellis and crosby the roy dude was calling me then i was very scared and did not want the repeat calls to my job . im not getting burnt twice.....what else can we do to stop the calls coming to work. we have told them to stop, we were calling the better business bureau and the fbi... the have also have told me to hold on while they were getting a call from the tn attorney general's office. they even had the nerve to say they would risk losing their job and pay part of the 1100 they stated i needed to pay i think he said 400 from his debit. isn't this crazy...but how do they have so much information that is mine this is correct....i did not give then any .my work had frontier trace the call they said the id states verizon incorp out of new york we were going to request a block on the work phones but the phone company stated they felt these guys were good and probably could get by the block!!!!!
I have been receiving calls from 408-404-3021 it actually comes up unknown nanme, but thats where they tell me to call. Today they called and said they were with United Legal Investigation Bureau and that I had a court day set on Monday at 11:00 against my social security number. And that I should call him back to resolve this matter. He had a think accent and has been calling every day. I'm going to contact the Federal Trade commision to see what we can do. Dont fall for it...I think I would be served if I had court on Monday!!
Stephanie they also called me from that 408 number today.I let voicemail pick it up.what is strange is it was the same guy that called me on Thursday.This time he left the 408 number for me to return his call but thursday he left a 718 number.I think they are faking their number.If he calls me back and leaves another one of his 5 minute messages iam going to call him back and read off some documents like he did to me only he didnt get to finsh because I veary politly told him ____________________________.Has anyone reaceived calls from 704-208-5409?
what these people are doing is so illegal and they prey on people being scared and paying them money, Just remember, never pay anyone money over the phone because they threated u. If it was a legit debt collector they would send u a validation letter. Even if they are legit and they harass u- you still have options like sending them a ciest and deist letter which tells them they cannot collect the debt from u or contact u. It then tells them that u will only deal with the original creditor. These people know what they are doing is wrong. I had my attorney call them and of course they put him on hold and never got back on the line. Then of course u try and call back and no one picks up the phone - gee I wonder why!! These people really need to be stopped.
