This is the number that showed up on my caller ID. they are interested in you charge card #. If you keep them on the line or mess with them they call back and cuss you out. Will not stop calling!
I've been receiving these calls for at least 3-4 months. Different numbers, different locations in the US (per the caller ID), all with an recording with a variation of "we'd like to lower your interest rate, eligibility expires soon, please consider this your final notice".
I've done all of the following to no avail: not answer, hang up, press the # to talk with someone (there's never an option to opt out) and tried being nice - tried asking to be removed - pretended to want what they were offering but never so far as giving fake card info. I have not tried the whistle thing yet - just haven't had the time to go out and get a whistle - also would probably be a but disruptive while sitting in office.
I've been hung up on, received busy signal when pressing the #, been told I was wasting the person's time when I had questions (and other manner of rude and obscene things), been given phone number to call to stop the calls - was a phone sex line. I'm offended, perturbed, feeling harassed.
Of course on the do not call list and if this were a legitimate company would be able to take recourse - but no way to find out who they are or where they are. My cell is the phone being called and since it doubles as a business line through my company I'm not able to block calls - discussed with our phone provider. Best option they suggested was to get a new number. I've also filed a report with the FTC but without an actual business name and no personal threat from caller there's not much they will do.
I'm at my wit's end. I see all the other posts going back for years. Has anyone has ever actually solved this problem effectively?
They call here at least once a day, usually more. Sometimes I answer and play with them, but usually I miss the call and come home to find the call log filled up with their hang-ups. It really is time for the feds to shut this down. At least Verizon and the other phone companies could put a block on them if they wanted to help their paying customers.
