To begin with, having the money available and the check clearing are 2 different things. You see by law the bank is required to make the funds available the next business day except in certain instances. Now it takes several days to several weeks for the check to get through the system via the routing numbers and then be declared NSF. Especially if the routing numbers are off by one or two digits. At that point, the check is returned to the depositing bank and then the bank comes after their customer who deposited it. Which is what happened to the poster you replied to. she is out the total amount of the check and the fees. Most likely she mailed a large portion of that check to someone which is why she is on the hook for those funds.

I've been needing something short of a miracle which would only happen if I can get a real job and a good one at that. I really wish these people would get caught and punished after seeing what people go through in life and how these scum bags only make it worse.
