Phone rang at small business. CID shows "Out of Area" plus 117204405807 all mashed together with no hyphens. We assume the two "ones" are supposed to make the number look like an international call. Whoever it was, there was no interest in talking with them, so the call went to voicemail. No message.
I received a call from this number at work at 4:30 on a Friday. I answered and the guy said he was with "Map Support," a third-party provider of Google Maps. He wanted to verify our address, because it had been "flagged." He had some address that is about a mile away, but not even similar to our current address. I started to get suspicious, because I entered our Google address marker myself. I gave him our updated address, and he asked if I was the business owner. I said I was not, but that I was the Marketing Director, and I could handle anything he was asking. He said he would call back when the owner was there and hung up on me.
I called the number back and was met with a "To be placed on our Do Not Call List," press 1. I did that. Then it gave me a phone number of a number to call to get the name and address of the business that called me (????) - 716-932-3240. I called that number and the message was really robotic and hard to understand, but I interpreted it as Symmetry (?) I looked up that address, and it appears to be a residence. I can't find anything about a JV Systems or JB Systems. Whatever this is, it's really suspicious and it got my scam antenna up. Something shady is up.
