Have been so inundated with telemarketing calls today that I answered this one. Said hello four times (in a mad tone, I must say!) before someone responded. Female voice said "how are you today?" I responded "good, take me off your call list, please," and hung up. Hopefully this will work. SOOO sick of these unwanted calls and am at my maximum ONE HUNDRED blocked numbers, all telemarketing numbers. It's insane!!
Answered since i had just visited Colorado, and figured a hotel or like may have been trying to reach me for legitimate purposes. Female voice sounded robotic stated that they were fighting the cause against breast cancer... sounded like a fake to me. I HUNG UP
Monday Dec. 7th, got a call from this number, but I do not answer calls from numbers not in my contacts. After reading these posts this number is now blocked.
Something to think about: when you answer calls like this--and either speak with the caller, or press a button to be added to their supposed "do not call list"-- you are VERIFYING that you have a good phone #. You may feel some vindication by keeping them on the line, yell obscenities at them, or waste their time, however at that point your phone # will likely be added to a list of good working #s. Most likely your verified, good phone # will also be sold to other dirtbag, low-life parasites (let's be realistic, they're all in this for the same purpose--to scam you out of your money).
I don't even let these types of calls go to voicemail (if I can help it), because, once again it verifies that they have reached a good phone #. Whenever I can, if I see a number on caller ID I don't recognize (or unknown/blocked #), I simply pick up the handset, and immediately hang it back up. In the case of them calling my cell phone, I press "answer," then immediately press "end." The reason is, there is a delay on auto dialers, because the dialer has already placed the call and puts the call in a queue, waiting for the next available agent to pick it up. If you answer and hang it up quickly enough--before the agent connects--it just drops the call, and the dialer has already called someone else. I'm not saying mine is a foolproof system, but since I have started doing this, I have much fewer unwanted calls. The Do Not Call Registry is a joke, these thieves figured out how to circumvent the DNC a long time ago.
