I too received several calls from Michael Thompson, Private Investigator, getting the same message as everyone else. This fellow just won't give up. The following are phone #'s from which he has called: 720 943 3040 305 842 2237 2720 501 4669.
I just got a call from this number as well. I knew it was a scam when they would not answer any of my questions and could not tell me specifics about the online payday loan. They were trying to tell me I was going to be arrested from 3 counts of federal felony charges. I am disturbed that they had my name,DOB,SSN and bank name, which means they are probably purchasing info from somewhere but they could not give me my account number. I hung up the phone on them and they have since called me back twice and Michael Thompson has left the same message, not even acknowledging that they spoke to me 15 mins prior to that call. After reading these comments, I agree that it is a scam! They were not able to tell me who the original creditor was only that it was with equity funding.
Received a call from 720-943-3040 with a caller ID as Legal Processing. They left a message stating my account and name was tied to a fraudulent transaction and to call a different number back. Well I called the original number back and no one answers that phone number after 3-4 rings. THIS IS A PHISHING SCAM to get you to give up your personal information and account information. I just find it annoying that they repeatedly call back and leave multiple messages on my machine. Wish they would give up and not call anymore but no one should give any information to these people. If you owe any money on a loan etc you would receive paperwork in the mail about it going to default or collections and if these people can't send you paperwork then tell them you are recording the call and will forward the information to your state Attorney General's office for a formal investigation!
Just got 2 back to back calls with 2 voicemails from Michael Thompson-Investigator from 720-943-3040. Said my name and ss# were associated with "Questionable Financial Transactions". He wanted me to call him right back. I have been getting calls like these in the last 2 weeks and the last time I asked them to send me something in the mail and I would be willing to work it out but not until I got something in writing. They would not confirm to send anything in writing, the guy wanted me to make a payment over the phone and I told him ...no way you are getting a credit card or bank info for payment until you send me this bill in writing, otherwise we have nothing further to discuss. He said they were going to continue location attempts etc and I said ok good.
I assume the call with this Michael Thompson will go the same way. I have never heard of a bill collector that will not send you your bill in writing. SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
