We have the Di*it**e call blocker on all our phone lines.
The Di*it**e is unique in that we can block entire area codes as well as full telephone numbers.
Currently, we have over 210 area codes blocked.
This number has never called us before but because we have the ENTIRE 720 AREA CODE BLOCKED, no matter what number they call from, THEIR CALLS CANNOT RING THROUGH!
OUR PHONES DO NOT RING AND OUR HOME IS NOT DISTURBED BY THEIR CALLS!
Please purchase a call blocking phone or device - they work and they are inexpensive
I, like the rest of you, receive these calls all the time. This particular number is a computer fraud, who, when given control over your computer, will upload a virus to it and then charge you to remove it. Our government is WORTHLESS, especially when it comes to blocking these calls, so the Do Not Call list is also worthless. Your only other course of action is this:
First, if you do NOT have Caller ID, then by all means GET ONE ! Secondly, Do NOT, under any circumstances, answer a caller you do not recognize. When you do, all you are doing is confirming for them is that they have reached a viable, working number and then they WILL call you back, PLUS they will sell your number to other scam artists so they can call you too. If they continue to call then first, check with your phone service and see if they have a call blocker service (mine does). If I continue to receive calls from a certain number then it goes onto my "Blocked" list. There are also call blockers you can purchase online.
Thirdly: Turn OFF your answering machine when you are home (I usually just leave mine off). I have caller ID so have the number of whoever calls.
Also, by just pressing 1 or any number they say to remove you from their list is also a scam. It doesn't work either. Also, I turn off my answering machine. If it answers their calls, then once again it only confirms the fact that they have indeed reached a "Working" number and they WILL continue to call you. Have a pleasant day. Sure am glad too for websites like this.
Thought for the day: I Wonder what would happen if everyone stopped answering these calls. IF they got no one to answer, then would they just give up and die ?
I will add that by using these tactics, there are days that go by now when I have NO MORE phone calls from scammers! Only problem is that they continue to get NEW phone numbers. I have also resorted to making a list of all the number that have called, the date, and who it is (after checking in with these sites). Please folks, don't answer these phone calls. Use your caller ID's and the common sense that God has blessed you with.
