"They" called my cell phone twice in a row but left no message. Someone else reporting this phone number before me (on this website) said that the FCC said not to answer unknown calls because that just confirms for them that it is a working number and they will make the number available to others. But not answering isn't really an option, because even if I don't hear the phone or if I just choose not to answer, the answering machine (home phone), voice mail (cell phone) will still pick up, so they still know it's a working number. Like many others, I seriously wonder if the Do Not Call Registry people really track these people down and DO anything. And WHAT do they do, I wonder?? When reporting another phone number from a scam call a few minutes ago (on this site) someone said that the scammers get the list of phone numbers registered on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY, (which of course has to be available to telemarketers so they know who NOT to call, right???) And that then they have a huge list of working numbers to work off of. Great.
