These jerks called me at 1:40 a.m. with the same pre-recorded message that my Max account had "suspicious" activity on it and was suspended. I knew it was a lie. Jerks scared me with the phone ringing in the middle of the night like that.
MAXX FEDERAL CREDIT UNION (MFCU). Call fromthis number at 4:30 cst telling me to press "1" for security purposes. I did some investigation and that is for sure! MFCU and its management has been compromised just enough to give hackers your phone number. Just ignore and change banks.
I got a call from this number at 11:45 pm then 7:00 the next morning. They told me that my Max Federal Credit Union account was going to be closed for inactivity. I do not have an account there, so obviously it's inactive. So annoying!!!
On April 23, 2009, at 1:49 a.m. and again at 2:21 a.m., my husband and I received calls simultaneously on our cell phones with a prerecorded message that our Max Federal Credit Union accounts had been accessed by a third party and we needed to contact Security Dept. The first phone call was from (732) 276-1300 but the second phone number was from (302) 286-5252.
On May 4, 2009, I received another phone call at work on the company switchboard but was not able to retrieve the number. The prerecorded message was identical to the others.
Whoever is behind this prank/scam is going to be in very big trouble. It seems they use a different company's phone number to show up on the caller ID. This happened to us the other day and we received calls from people at all hours of the day and night wanting to know who was calling them. When We explained the situation they were always understanding. If you call back the number on your caller ID, Please do not be rude to them, They are victims too. The good news is that Several Police agency's, including the secret service are investigating this.
