I got a call from Joanne Roman at this number. She asked for "Taryn or Christopher" to discuss a "personal matter" that she couldn't go into detail about "legally" (I said that they weren't available but that I could take a message). It was really scary and made me think I was getting sued or something and my mind started to race, who would be suing us? Is this the police? Am I going to jail?? Thankfully I found this site and found out it's just another bill collector for an unpaid medical bill. It's nuts to see what lengths these people will go to in order to collect money. It's just a bill collector, but the message implied I was in serious legal trouble. SMDH... She called from (757) 873-3667 and asked to be called back at 877-277-6336
I received a call from Joanne Roman today one on my cell which went to voicemail because I wasnt near my phone and another at work before I arrived. She left a message with a co worker which I got as soon as I clocked in. Calling my phone is one thing because I usually dont answer unfamiliar numbers anyway but calling my place of work is another thing ESP when Im making payments toward the bill in question! I can see if Ive never made a payment, hadnt set up any type of arrangement, and isnt making payments but to harass me regardless is quite annoying! Maybe if healthcare wasnt so darn expensive in this country they wouldnt have to worry about medical bills going into collection! (Just my two cents!)
As others have pointed out, this is a debt collection agency that serves Sentara. Unlike others I found them to be polite and professional, but of course being nice to them (or anyone) on the phone often gets you the same. ;-) The bill was an old one (2 years), and they were confused as to why it was only sent to them now. I don't blame them...I blame Sentara and the clinic that didn't bother to tell me I had less than $20 outstanding!
