I have gotten many calls in the past 8 mnths. claiming I have unpaid items. I called my local Sheriff Dept about this. They took the time to check if there was any Warrants out for me. It's just a scam. Don't send any money. Report calls to your local Police agency. Be sure to give the phone # from where the call came from.
Total scam. An arrest warrant is only issued by a judge (or magistrate); it authorizes law enforcement to arrest the person named in the warrant for a specific crime. Warrants are applied for by law enforcement by way of an affidavit that sets up probable cause that a crime was committed and that the person named in the warrant committed it. Warrants are only served by duly constituted officers of the law.
These scammery-scummery debt collection outfits cannotissue warrants and have no influence whatsoever on the criminal justice system. Being in ordinary civil debt is not a crime and you can't be arrested for it. Ignore these people and block their calls.
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now. If you can find them.
Got a phone call from number 770-406-6737 when I called back they wanted me to give them my information when I inform the woman on the phone she called my number and she know it because she called me she hung up. SCAM
I've posted under some of these other numbers they call from. Today, this was the latest number. However, the fellow today was less verbally abusive/hostile than some of the others. But, he did hang up on me when I questioned him.
They say they are "Pre-Trial Investigations"....or something similar. They always tell you they are preparing felony charges for unpaid checks. In my situation, it is for lenders I've never heard of, accounts I've never opened/used/received money or services from -- usually some kind of payday loan from the sounds of it.

They typically call every week or two, sometimes twice a week. If you block a number, they just pick a different one and start calling again. In the event I can ever get someone to get far enough with investigating these fraudsters (I've called local police, sheriff, State AG, and filed complaints with ICE & Consumer Protection Bureau), I also document their various company names, supposed file numbers, representative "names" (although I believe they are all fake names or aliases anyway).
These used to make me sick to my stomach with worry. Unfortunately, I've had enough practice to grow a thicker skin and become a little more callous. I just hope that someday these people get what's coming to them.
